I Want to Be the Song, a poem

I don’t want to play the recordIMG_1833

Perch behind the lens

Hold the pen.

I want to be the song

Live the photo

Experience the novel.

Enough interpreting my existence.

Enough searching for the symbol, the reflection, the meaning.

I am resonant, alive, pulsing

Treble and bass.

Light and shadows.

Beginnings and endings.

All of it.

I want to be the song.

Beating, polyrhythmic, harmonious.

The lyrics my prayers.

I want to live the photo.

Still, present, vibrant.

The image my essence.

I want to experience the novel.

Aching, poignant, truth.

The plot my story.

I want to be alive.

Color, beauty, heart-break.

Engaged, awake, heart-felt.

In awe.

  1. Yes… I hear you… I do not want to read about someone else’s desire and yearning. I want to experience it. I want it for me! I am finding that I ache to feel more, live more, love more… I am discovering a serenity through paint and painting and brush strokes… It is a newfound realization and I am liking it…quiet a bit in fact :)

    Thanks much.

  2. Joyful living is not out of our reach, rather within us. This poems expresses that beautifully. :)

  3. Nice job! Personally, I do want to hold the pen. Perch behind the lens. Art IS living the life. Thought provoking. Maybe I will write a response poem inspired by you :)

  4. I love that you went to poetry. Though I want to hold the pen *and* experience the novel. Does that make me a control freak or just greedy? ;-P
