Some of my influences include humanistic and transpersonal psychology. My perspective is also informed by West-African based spirituality, eastern non-dual philosophy and western mysticism. I believe that, as a practitioner, it’s my ethical responsibility to continue to commit to my own growth and healing. I’ve been fortunate to have many teachers and mentors who help me maintain the integrity of my work (and keep me humble).

Most folks I work with are seeking support with transitions. These include making career changes, nurturing creative goals, navigating relationships and uncovering aliveness in everyday life.

Good therapy and other emotional healing work have more in common than not and this becomes more true as the fields evolve. Therapy is often sought when you’re looking to heal an emotional wound or wanting to understand how past trauma might affect your current circumstances.  

Inner work involves examining and reflecting on our lives, including our imperfections and what makes us human. Inner work offers us the opportunity to practice self-compassion and to embrace our own complexity.

Some issues I help with are: feeling blue or dissatisfied, anxiety and worry, “imposter syndrome”, managing anger, shame, work stress, boundaries, struggles with parenting, personal and generational trauma, body image, creative blocks, relationships and dating, job changes, grief, divorce/break-ups and accepting new phases of life.

Through compassionate listening and honesty, I co-create space and safety for you to say what might be hard to say anyplace else. Yes, there’s visioning and action planning. We also process fears and examine obstacles. The bottom line is: being seen and deeply affirmed is healing. I can guide you with practices that help tune into your body and access your innate wisdom. Incorporating mindfulness practices during sessions will help you feel more grounded and centered.

Sessions last 45-60 minutes. We look at what’s not working and build on the good. We explore practices that help you go inside to find your inner sources of strength and wisdom.

The fee per session is $175. If you’re seeking therapy in NJ or Washington DC, as an LCSW, my services may be eligible for reimbursement as an out-of-network provider. Sliding scale options are available for those in need.

Phone or Zoom sessions are beneficial for several reasons. First, there is the convenience for both you and me. Second, especially when connecting over the phone, we get to focus on expression through words– you don’t have to worry about what you look like or are dressed like.
